Guess what I did this week. No really, guess.
Wrong.
I finally, at long last got to meet Ginny Marie in person! Really! The Spin Cycle mavens, together at last!
"Oh that's right, Gretchen, you were selected as a Voice of the Year at the BlogHer convention, you two met at the convention," you say.
But you are mistaken. Yes, I was a VOTY. No, I didnt' go to the convention. It's a little depressing. I mean I could have DRIVEN there. But the whole Jimmy-in-the-hospital thing got in the way, and I just couldn't swing it. But...if I had gone to BlogHer, I would have missed meeting Ginny, so clearly I made the right choice!
And I didn't just meet Ginny Marie, I met Ed and the girls too!
It was really a wonderful experience. Jude and I walked into the cafe where we'd decided to meet, and we immediately recognized each other, and it was like we'd known each other forever! Ginny was exactly as I'd imagined her - she acted and sounded just like I thought she would. Isn't that interesting? I guess it's a tribute to her writing - she expresses herself so truthfully through her words!
And Ed was terrific and the girls were darling!
And the girls? ANGELS! Jude was his usual chatterbox self, but the girls were so lovely and poised and sweet.
"Jude, sit next to the girls..."
"No, closer..."
"No CLOSER!"
Ginny Marie and family are now off on a fabulous vacation to national parks along the west coast. So in celebration of our meeting, and because Ginny will be wifi-free for a while, the Spin Cycle topic for the next two weeks is...
NOTHING. We're on a two week vacay!
When we get back on 8/11 I'll be heading off to New York for two weeks with the in-laws. So PREPARE YOURSELVES for some Mommy Madness.
Have a great vacation. I hope I get to meet all of you soon too!
its so wonderful meeting fellow bloggers - looked like a lot of fun. Enjoy the two week VaKK - :)

Terrific!!!! So pleased you were able to eyeball each other. That is an amateur radio expression Gene uses since he is a ham operator. Two beautiful ladies. I love the girls were all giggly and Jude was the oh so cool surfer boy. Looking forward to Mommy stories. Hope you have a better bed this year!

I am sad that you missed BlogHer, especially when you got a VOTY! I'm selfishly glad that you were in LA at the same time that I was, though!
Wifi has been spotty, so I'm glad we're taking a couple of weeks off!
