This week on The Spin Cycle...
Cooking With Love
When I love someone I want to feed them. I'm not quite sure what this says about me, and I'm not sure if this is a good thing or a bad thing. But it is true.
I clearly remember the first time I cooked for Jimmy. I invited him for dinner at my apartment, and cooked an elaborate Greek meal - homemade dolmas, moussaka and baklava. It took me two days to prepare. I have absolutely no idea why I chose to cook Greek food, it's not a cuisine that Jimmy particularly cares for, or that I have any particular knowledge of and I have never cooked it for Jimmy again. But it seems to have had the desired effect on the man.
My mother was a cook, as was her mother and my father's mother and almost all of the women I grew up surrounded by. That is a major way in which they showed their care and love for their families and friends.
For me, cooking is nurturing, cooking is nourishing, cooking is...love.
So this week, let's write about who cooked with love for you. Or who you cook for with love. Is the food made for you with love something you adore or something you detest?
This is meant to be more about the emotions behind the cooking than the recipes. Though, of course, recipes are a bonus!
Write your post and add it to the link below any time this week. Come back on Friday for Ginny Marie of Lemon Drop Pie and my spins on "Cooking with Love".
NOTE: Save your Halloween posts for next week's Spin Cycle when we have a Halloween Show and Tell. We decided to save it since Halloween is Thursday, and neither of us wanted to stay up all night writing!
And if you'd like to be added to the Spin Cycle Topic email, let me know, and I'll add you to the list!
And since I love all of you, but I can't cook for all of you, I will give you a little vintage Julia - Boeuf Bourguignon is about the most loving food I can imagine. Enjoy!

You put my own little blog post today to shame! I can't remember the first time I cooked for my husband, but it probably wasn't fancy. I love watching Julia Child cook...adding the video is a nice touch!

Nick's pick up line for me was "So, when are you cooking me dinner?" My response: "I live in the dorms, if you want microwave mac-n-cheese, come on over."
He ultimately cooked for me first. Now, I do the majority of the cooking, but he is more creative in the kitchen.
Looking forward to the spin this week!

I LOVE to cook, especially something special for T. I might need to share a few recipes, too....
