Unfortunately (or fortunately, as the case may be) I no longer have kids of summer camp age. I may, however, participate on a limited basis with Camp Meema. The whole "limited basis" thing is one of the nicest things about being a Meema, after all. ;)

We have a version of Camp Mama going on here--Camp Papa and Camp Grandma. Lots of yard work and chores. Camper is duly compensated for his endeavors in said chores. Direct supervision will be needed at first but the hope is that the camper learns the value of doing a good job in a timely fashion. The goal of acquiring the camper's own Tablet is incentive.
Since no summer school this year, reading is a requirement. So is writing of some sort. Electronic device usage is not as monitored as it probably should be, but sanity of the camp directors is of higher priority.
Good luck with Camp Mama. Maybe next summer a Disney trip could be arranged. With a possible combining of camps?

Camp Mama posts are some of my favorites since I can chuckle over the director's sanity or lack there of. I only feel that I have the right to doing this because I went through the same experience 20 years ago. I'm not really laughing at you...wait I am.

I'm in! I'm the founder of Camp Mommy, Midwest Branch. Boy, was Emmy disappointed when she figured out that Camp Mommy was just staying at home!
