I love this website - Dear Photograph. It's a simple premise - take an old photograph and hold it up in front of the present day location of the shot, and take a new picture. As the site says "past and present blend into a new piece of art". Here are a few that I adore...
I'm dying to get to Austin and take a picture of Jude playing alongside me!

A poem by my child...
Translation of my child's poor penmanship, complete with my child's questionable spelling and punctuation...
Howdy partners today is another day of riding.
It seems that the bulls are loudly fighting.
I went out and lassoed them with my rope.
Then I felt like stuffing there mouths with tons of soap.
After a day of riding my legs were so tired
that I kind of wished I was never hired.
At dinner time I ate a bowl of delicious spicy beans and beef.
Then two hours later I was filled with grief.
I can't decide if his teacher gave him 10/10 because he took the time to make it all kind of rhyme, or if she shares his silly sense of humor!

My new Netflix watching obsession...
It's a political drama filled with Washington intrigue - smart and slick and sexy and about GROWN UPS for a change. Kevin Spacey and Robin Wright are terrific! I highly recommend it!

First off your son's poem is really cute. Great job!
Don't you just love House of Cards? We watched the entire first season in a matter of days and I can't wait to see more! I gave a teeny review on my blog last month. Another good Netflix exclusive is Lilyhammer. If you haven't seen this one, then you may want to check it out. They are currently working on season 2.
Oh yeah, what a cool photo editing service! I'll be sure to check it out.

Okay, it took me a few minutes to control my laughter after reading this. I give him a 10/10 because he's flippin' hilarious.

Love that poem! Very clever, very clever...and the Exorcist dolls? I heart those, too.

I go w/the consensus that he got 10 because it's funny. I WANT SPOCKS!

I'm with Jan - I'm STILL laughing over the last two lines of Jude's poem! HYSTERICAL! Totally deserved 10/10. ;) And can you imagine if we got Jude and PN together someday? We'd die laughing. :)
I LOVE that photo idea! I'm going to have to see if my mom has any pics of us in front of our old house - when we move back there I'll totally have to see about doing that with PN. Maybe I'll have to incorporate some with our current house from her baby days to now - we've been in this house since she was 6 months old, so it could work. ;) Such a cool idea!
I keep seeing advertisements for House Of Cards - love Kevin Spacey and it looks excellent...and now that you recommend it, I'm regretting the decision to cancel Netflix and go with Amazon Prime instead! :)
Awesome quote!
Thanks for helping keep the random alive! :)

Those pictures are adorable. I will have to see if I can find one to recreate.

I love the idea of those pictures--old with new. The thought of recreating one--for us not so easy--too much moving around and changing things.
Two weeks until we hit Long Beach. I can't wait!

I have been so crabby. February in Wisconsin is brutal. You're really nowhere near spring. As a matter of fact, schools here are closed for a snow day today. The snow pile at the end of my driveway is now the height of my mailbox. Today. In March. And today I have seen that exact Abraham Lincoln quote. Once by the cousin whose posts I am usually afraid to read, and now here. So I feel like God may be trying to tell me something. Even as I shovel snow out from near my rose bushes.

That Jude has his mom's sense for writing and humor. Looking forward to the Austin then/now pictures.

I always love your random posts! Jude's poem is precious, and I do believe he's got some serious Texas blood boiling in him!
