Well hello, Summer!
Los Angeles weather has been fantabulous lately - no June Gloom this year! It's been highs in the upper 70's and lows at night in the 60's. Amazing. Aren't you jealous?
OMG, am I one lucky girl! Stacy of Stacy Uncorked, our lovely Random Tuesday Thoughts hostess, sent me not one, but TWO bottles of her homemade wine! I have been in heaven. As soon as I got them, I ran in and stuck them in the fridge to get them ready for immediate consumption. I realize now that I really should have taken a picture of myself enjoying a glass of Princess Nagger wine, but that would have involved getting up and putting on a little makeup, and I was too busy immediately consuming!
The first bottle I tried was the Pina Colada Vino, which sort of intrigued me - I didn't have any idea what it would be like. I don't usually buy sweet wines, I'm more of a dry, crisp wine kind of girl, but I was pleasantly surprised. It's super refreshing - the perfect summer beverage. And it's sweet tastiness made the alcohol content sort of creep up on me, if you know what I mean. I was guzzling it like soda while I was grilling some chicken, and suddenly I went all "Woohoo! This stuff is goooooood!" Luckily, I managed not to ruin dinner, as I have some experience with grilling under the influence. The second bottle was Exotic Fruit White Zinfun, and it was also really tangy and refreshing. Thank you, thank you Stacy!! I'm trying to think of some fun Hollywood treat to send back, but can't think of anything. Anybody have ideas? Stacy, anything that Princess Nagger is dying for? Any shows or movies that she's crazy for? And the rest of you should dash over to Stacy's website and purchase some wine for your summer fun!
And along the same lines...
Jude and I went to see the Broadway touring company of the musical The Addams Family last week! My old friend from college, Blake, was playing Uncle Fester, so we got to go backstage afterwards and sweet Blake gave us a tour. It's not my favorite musical in the world, but the production is really fun and Blake was fabulous! Jude is not usually a musical kind of guy, but he was completely engaged - laughed out loud through the whole thing. And he LOVED the backstage tour - we got to meet the other actors and see the inner-workings. FINALLY, Mama's old theater connections impressed the kid!
Thank God, Jude's baseball team finally won a game!
And just in time, so they managed to end up third in the league. Third out of four teams. Okay, that's not so good, but it's better than last! The poor guys had the worst year. It's a really young team, ALL 3rd Graders, when every other team was full of 4th or even 5th Graders. There's this one kid on the team that came in first who looks like he's about 23, I swear. And they'd been playing their little hearts out, always losing by just a point or two. So they were pretty excited to have a good solid decisive victory to end the season. And Jude got two base hits and an RBI. And didn't screw up too much with his fielding. Woohoo!
I honestly can't decide how I feel about this website - Lucky Squashbuckler. It's some ladies in Texas who make these super cute purses made of reclaimed/upcycled materials, which each have a hidden pocket for you to carry your concealed weapon...
...and while I certainly support our constitutional right to bear arms, can you imagine any possible reason for a women who carries such a cute and whimsical little handbag to need to tote along a GUN?! I mean, that's the kind of little bag that you'd take to church or the PTA meeting. How paranoid would you need to be to think you need to bring along a handgun? I mean, I live in Los Angeles, for God's sake, and I have honestly never once ever in the last 20 years been in a situation when I wished I was packing heat. However, if you are a gun-toter, you should check out their bags, because they're pretty cute. I do love the disclaimer on their website that says they assume "no liability or responsibility". I guess they don't want to get blamed if you accidentally shoot somebody at soccer practice while digging around in your purse looking for your cell phone.
Since I took a week off from The Spin Cycle last week, I feel the need to remind everybody the topic for this Friday - Word Collage. Check out my last Spin Cycle post for the details. It's a pretty fun idea - it's kind of computer arts and crafts, y'all!
That completes my Random Tuesday Thoughts for the week. PLEASE visit Stacy for more random thinkers, and while you're there check out her yummy wines!
