God is in the details.
1. Fancy's Ride to School
Every morning, our little dog, Fancy, rides with us to school. Over the past year or so, she has experimented with finding the perfect position in which she can enjoy her outing to it's fullest. She has finally decided that it is as such - her back legs are on the back seat, and her front legs are perched on the armrest between the drivers and passenger seats. So this is my POV when I glance to the right while driving...
She's my little co-pilot.
2. Larchmont
Not far from our house, and even closer to Jude's school, is a little shopping area on Larchmont Blvd. It's a pleasant little strip of small businesses about 3 blocks long, lined with pretty ficus trees. It's the kind of place where you can park your car, grab a coffee or an ice cream, and walk up and down window-shopping to your hearts content. We go there almost every day. And every time we do, we meet at least 3 people we know. It's like Mayberry right in the heart of Los Angeles. Many of the shops are owned by folks whose kids go to Jude's school, and we're all pretty serious about supporting the local businesses. It's my go-to place for almost all of my needs. If I had another life, I'd want to own Chevalier's Books, which has been there for about 50 years. I could happily grow into my dotage as "the lady at the bookstore".
3. My Choir
Some nights, I just don't feel like going to rehearsal. I have so much to do and I'm so tired. But I'll go anyway, out of duty, and DAMN if I don't ALWAYS feel better. It's like medicine for my soul. Healing. Uplifting. Always a good thing.
4. L.A. Jasmine Season
One of the most excellent things about living in our temperate, always pleasant climate, is that we have flowers blooming year-round. But Springtime is the best time of all, because that's when the jasmine is in bloom. Nothing is as heavenly as walking along a sidewalk and being surrounded by the heady, heavenly aroma of jasmine. Makes me weak!
Every time our little dog, Fancy, sneezes, Jimmy politely, and in utter seriousness, turns to her and says "Salut!"
6. Being a Pious Prius Owner
About once a month, sometimes once every TWO months, I need to fill my Prius with gasoline. It holds exactly TEN gallons. I will now pause for effect while that sinks in .........................................
7. Jude's Profile
8. 99 Cent + Savings World
While the City of Los Angeles is filled with hundreds of 99 Cent stores, the 99 Cent + Savings World on the corner near us is the most excellent of all! When they first opened a couple of years ago, I was upset that they stuck a tacky 99 Cent store so close to our neighborhood. But I have come to be their best customer. They carry everything you would ever need! A raincoat for your dog?
They've got it! Eyelashes?
They've got it! Rabbit ear antennae? A habitat for your turtle?
Got it and got it! They've got it all. And interestingly, most of the things I buy I didn't even know I needed! But hey, they're all only 99 Cents +.
9. Quiet Time
Sometimes at night, if I can get Jimmy and Jude to go to sleep early, I get to snuggle into the bed with my laptop. It's dark. It's quiet. So peaceful. Then I like to plug in my earpods and watch something from Netflix. Maybe I even get a little snack. And a drinkipoo. Ah.
10. Spinners
Ever since taking over the Spin Cycle from Jen, I've come to adore each and every one of you. Really truly. Y'all have no idea how thrilled I get when I receive one of those little comments that says "My Spin is up!". I get so excited. "Oh boy! What did they say?!" And it fascinates me how everybody spins their post. So thank you to all of you for joining in! It means the world to me!

I've always love that episode of I Love Lucy (them ripping their gowns to shreds at the end while they sing the song is just too funny). I've been in a bit of a funky mood this week, and still am, so I guess that's as close to "love" as you'll get from me. Sorry. :(

It really is the little things that make our world better.
I wish our Family Dollar was better. Every time I go in there I feel like I'm hitting the local dive store. But it will be my store of choice to stock up on little travel toys before our epic road trip this summer.

I feel exactly the same way about our choir rehearsals! Plus, I have bell choir right after choir...and I'm tired! But it's always worth it.
I just love those pics of Jude! He still has such pinchable cheeks!

Hey, I'm in but only because I stole your list idea. http://michele-dogslife.blogspot.com/2012/06/spin-cycle-things-i-love.html
Our jasmine season is over now but it is one of my favorites. We are into magnolia season. Just as good in my book.

I'm late to the party but here is my spin for my love.
And you have very awesome loves. I wish we had a street where we had just home grown stores. We have a few places in town but it's hard for them to stay open for long.

Greetings from Fort Worth-- I have just discovered your blog. Did you ever work at Conan's Pizza on the Drag in Austin late 70's-early 80's? If so, we worked together and had mutual work buddies like Mark Guerra the photographer. Glad to see that you're doing well, even if we don't know each other. Gerard
